Urban Farming Series: Marketing Strategies Event Date: 17 Mar 2010 7:00pm - 9:30pm Producing food crops for sale is only half of the equation. Successfully marketing your crops is what will make your growing endeavors worthwhile financially. We will consider a wide variety of marketing avenues looking at everything from FarmerÂÂ's Markets to CSAs to Wholesale options plus a few think-outside-the-box ideas. Each marketing option requires different skills and time commitments; we will uncover the pros and cons to each so that you can figure out which marketing options will work best in your system. Instructor Courtney Tchida is the Student Program Coordinator for the Minnesota Institute for Sustainable Agriculture (MISA) and a member of the PRI Cold Climate Teacher's Guild. She coordinates Cornercopia Student Organic Farm at the University of Minnesota, where they use many different growing methods to produce fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers to feed their local community. She has completed training in Permaculture, SPIN Farming, Organic and Biointensive growing, and has a Masters in Agricultural Education. WHEN: Wednesday, March 17, 7:00 - 9:30 PM WHERE: Science Building Room 123, Augsburg College, 2211 Riverside Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55454 (view driving directions to campus, view campus detail map) COST: $20 at the door, or $15 if you pay in advance.
